Job Description:

What You’ll Do
The Lead Financial Analyst of Investor Relations supports the Manager of Investor Relations to help administer the global Investor Relations program. The Investor Relations team is responsible for five key workstreams:
- Development of materials, such as formal remarks and potential Q&A's, for all interactions with the investment community, including quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, non-deal roadshows, and investors days. This is informed by analysis of internal forecasts and external expectations to formulate public financial guidance.
- Coordinating and leading elements of investment community dialogue, including buy and sell-side interaction/questions.
- Maintaining buy-side targeting criteria and tracking performance to goal.
- Tracking security analyst earnings models and providing Competitive Intelligence and analysis of peer performance data, and its implications for investor expectations for DFS.
- Working with Corporate Strategy to support capital markets activities as needed, and create narratives for CEO/CFO/ VP-CS&IR & Director of IR for the investor community that relate these activities to DFS operating strategies.
The analyst will:
- Develop presentation materials for critical internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide market and competitive intelligence by monitoring macro conditions, analyzing internal forecasts, assessing equity analyst expectations, and conducting competitive analysis.
- Provide insights and recommendations to support the development of investment community messaging and the Discover investment thesis.
- Participate in integration management activities related to the Investor Relations workstreams.
- Streamline, systematize and document key Investor Relations team operations.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the above objectives.
A successful candidate is an experienced analyst who is skilled at synthesizing and presenting detailed financial information, macroeconomic trends, and competitive intelligence to highlight implications on business trends and Discover’s narrative.
The analyst must be able to clearly communicate complex information, have a high degree of financial acumen, and exhibit strong attention to detail. This role is part of a larger Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis organization. Given the pending merger with Capital One, responsibilities may evolve to best meet organizational needs.
How You’ll Do It
- Develop internal and external materials, including formal remarks and potential Q&A's, for all interactions with the investment community, including quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, non-deal roadshows, investors days, Board of Director materials and other internal communications.
- Participate in integration management activities related to the Investor Relations workstreams.
- Efficiently source and manage internal and external data.
- Enhance internal processes driving new insights, automation, robust documentation and adherence to applicable controls.
- Assess and compare internal and external financial forecasts.
- Conduct competitor analysis.
- Coordinate investor conference appearances and aid in the development of preparatory materials.
- Aid in the management of internal and external Investor Relations websites.
- Rationalize and optimize the use of vendor tools to enhance insights.
Qualifications You’ll Need
The Basics:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in Investor Relations, buy/sell side, planning, financial analysis, strategy, or related.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Master's degree in Business Administration and Management.
- CFA or CPA.
- Previous experience with AlphaSense, FactSet, and Oracle EPM.

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $75,500.00 to $127,900.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
