Title: Sr. Revenue Accountant

Job Summary:
Provides accounting and financial support to ensure adequate internal controls and efficiency of procedures and processes within the Accounting department, with a focus on revenue and cost of sales, to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Accounting Management and the sales account teams to identify and account for customer contracts which may require accounting adjustments to comply with ASC 606.
- Perform technical accounting research and prepare technical accounting whitepapers.
- Develop and execute appropriate revenue recognition policies.
- Develop and implement internal controls related to revenue recognition.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries necessary to fairly state contract assets and liabilities in accordance with ASC 606.
- Develop a close working relationship with sales teams and maintain regular reviews of revenue recognized on an over time basis.
- Provide support to Accounting Management in month-end close and account analysis, not limited to G/L account reconciliations, budget vs. actual analysis, system balancing and all other tasks required to close month-end on a timely basis and maintain G/L account integrity.
- Assist with compilation of the annual consolidated financial statements and financial statement audit.
- Support federal, state, local sale tax reporting as it pertains to revenue and cost of sales.
- Work closely with finance and non-finance organizations (including but not limited to Field, Sales, Marketing, HR, IT and National Account Sales) staff and management across the organization on various projects and initiatives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Key Competencies:
- Possesses extensive knowledge and experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards, codes, and concepts to ensure they are being followed. Has proven accounting experience in either the public or private sectors.
- Deep experience with ASC 606, ideally in a public company environment.
- Ability to take initiative to develop new processes and procedures.
- Ability to be self-sufficient across multiple projects; has successfully handled and prioritized multiple competing priorities and effectively manages deadlines.
- Ability to solve complex Accounting issues and can perform complex analyses related to financial goals.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment.
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented with an inquisitive ability for problem solving.
Critical Success Factors:
- Revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606.
- Effective control environment surrounding the recognition of revenue.
- Technical accounting whitepapers and accounting policies that successfully pass manager and auditor review, as applicable.
Requirements & Preferences:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.
- 4+ Years relevant work experience, public accounting or public company experience is a strong plus.
- Advanced Excel skills required. Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
- CPA license or CPA exam eligible is a strong plus.
