Chamberlain Advisors is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client; a rapidly growing, family-owned, industrial mechanical, plumbing wholesale/distribution supplier who provides services and solutions that deliver continuous productivity to job sites. As a Staff Accountant, you will report directly to the Controller and play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing accounts, and supporting various accounting processes. You must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of accountant and should enjoy a fast-paced environment.

- Accounting Acumen
- Holds general accounting knowledge (not limited to: journal entries, debits and credits, general ledger, bank reconciliations, prepaid schedules, fixed assets, inventory reporting, etc.).
- Support and assist the Controller and external auditors during the audit process.
- Experience using systems to manage fixed assets (capitalization, impairment, additions & disposals).

What You Will Be Accountable For
- Month-End Close Support
- Perform reconciliations for various general ledger accounts.
- Record month-end journals accurately and efficiently.
- Process Improvements and Ad hoc Projects
- Collaborate with the team on process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness and propose changes to company practices to streamline and optimize throughout company workflow.
- Assist with various accounting projects for a fast-growing company such as compliance, accounting policies, audit requests, document procedures, internal controls and help automate manual processes where possible.
- Participate in ad hoc projects, such as system ad-on integrations, as needed.
- Tax Support
- File local county and state tax returns, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Prepare tax corrections for sales transactions as needed.
- Assist with implementation of Avalara, a third-party tax software.
- Account Reconciliation Support
- Perform bank reconciliations, manage prepaid schedules, and maintain fixed assets records.
- Collaborate internally to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of assets.
- Maintain vehicle listings, including managing titles and renewal of registrations.
- Support cycle counting for inventory, stocking, direct inventory.
- Reporting and Analysis Support
- Generate detailed reports, extracting and presenting data from ERP systems, reporting on, line items and month-end financials, while ensuring accuracy and adherence to the Chart of Accounts.
- Analyze financial information to provide insights, support decision-making processes, and engage in analytics initiatives to drive strategic outcomes.
What Qualifications You Will Need
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Approximately 2-3 years of Staff Accounting experience.
- Experience within the distribution industry is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential; knowledge of Vlookup’s, Data Sets, Pivot Tables, and the ability to navigate large sheets of approximately 100k rows.
- Ability to use and leverage an ERP system; preferably CloudSuite Distribution by INFOR.
