We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial activities of Bay Country Contractors. This role is critical to ensuring the financial health of the company through effective management of accounting, budgeting, and reporting functions. The Controller will work closely with senior leadership to provide insights and guidance for strategic financial decisions, ensuring the company’s growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, payroll, and job cost accounting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and manage the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads and project managers.
- Monitor cash flow, project costs, and overall financial performance of the company’s projects.
- Ensure timely and accurate job cost reporting, working closely with project managers to assess financial progress.
- Maintain and develop internal control processes to safeguard company assets.
- Oversee compliance with tax filings and work closely with external auditors to ensure proper financial reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions, including bidding on new projects, capital expenditures, and strategic investments.
- Collaborate with project managers and the CFO to evaluate project profitability and cost-saving opportunities.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial reporting.
- Stay current on accounting trends, regulations, and construction industry developments to ensure best practices are followed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior financial management role (construction industry experience is strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, construction billing, and percentage of completion accounting methods.
- Experience with construction industry software (e.g., Foundation, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial team members.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Attention to detail, with a strong commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
Compensation: $75,000 - $110,000 yearly
