In this position, you will provide essential support to the attorneys in the region by assisting with various litigation-related tasks and offering administrative support for the office's operations. Your duties will involve organizing and managing files, overseeing correspondence, maintaining the library, coordinating communications, and facilitating purchases, all while adhering to established legal standards. A significant aspect of your role will be to review requests submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and assist the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law (RTKL) team in determining the existence of any public records. This will require you to clarify requests, identify any missing information, and assess potential legal exemptions or privileges that could restrict access to records. Furthermore, you will play a role in legal proceedings associated with RTKL requests and engage in training sessions aimed at enhancing your professional skills.
Your responsibilities in litigation will include conducting thorough legal research, preparing cases, and providing support during hearings, trials, and appeals while diligently tracking deadlines. You will assist attorneys in negotiations and litigation matters related to cost recovery, permitting, and enforcement by managing relevant documents and taking detailed notes during proceedings. Additionally, you will utilize discovery and trial software to optimize these processes. Your general duties will also encompass handling sensitive issues in accordance with attorney-client privilege, maintaining a high level of professionalism when interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials, and contributing to the drafting of legal correspondence.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school;
- Three years of professional experience in legal research and analysis, and a bachelor’s degree;
- Five years of legal research and analysis experience including three years at the professional level, and an associate’s degree;
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional experience in legal research and analysis.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Additional Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's license.
- You must possess good interpersonal skills, including active listening, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
