The Senior Accountant addresses financial and accounting functions related to the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, expenses, billing, and more. They are responsible for actual to budget variance explanations, performing account reconciliations and analysis, conducting accounting research, and providing information for client requests.
Responsibilities
- Support Controller, interact as required with clients on a daily or weekly basis. Respond to client communications within 24 hours.
- Organize and plan engagement workflow, set priorities, and delegate tasks under evolving circumstances for different clients.
- Develop a strong understanding of client’s industry, accounting operations, and procedures.
- Supervise and review Accountants’ and Analysts’ daily/monthly workload, including but not limited to transaction processing activities, journal entry preparation, and monthly account reconciliation.
- Prepare/review reconciliations for significant balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as needed.
- Maintain general ledger, including accounts payable and accounts receivable sub-ledgers.
- Prepare and/or review day-to-day and month-end close entries, including payroll, benefits, expense allocations, and other entries, as appropriate.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, financial analyses, and budget variances.
- Recommend and adhere to best practices, internal controls, and policies.
- Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of client financial systems.

Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
- CPA certification or other relevant certification a plus.
- 3+ years’ general accounting and payroll experience in a corporate setting required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Work Responsibilities

Essential Functions
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position as needed.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and at client offices to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner and exchange information with internal and external actors as needed.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel to local and non-local clients as needed; overnight travel may be required.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
