Job Description
- Processes transactions, reconciles and maintains various accounts and ledgers.
- Transactions processed and maintained may include accounts payable, journal vouchers, vendor invoices, expense reimbursements, ledgers, statements, billings, and/or other accounting documents.
- Ensures accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of transactions processed.
- Conducts research on discrepancies and makes appropriate corrections or adjustments.
- Responds to and resolves inquiries. Posts data and/or checks and verifies data.
- Runs and prepares routine financial reports and analyses.
- Performs a variety of operation duties within safekeeping and/or Investment Portfolio workstreams depending on assignment.
- Accountable for a variety of accounting functions such as reconciliation, analysis, and external reporting. Interfaces with internal personnel to resolve issues and ensure efficient service to those customers.
- Uses various reporting to ensure accuracy of account transactions and information.
- May participate in operational functions as needed.
- Effectively and accurately coordinate, manage, and complete multiple duties and assignments concurrently and within acceptable timelines while clearly communicating status updates and escalating unusual items or errors to team members and manager.
- Accountable for compliance with established department policies and procedures as well as market required operational standards.
- Maintains adequate accounting and control for various accounting functions related to Investment portfolio and External reporting.
- Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts. Prepares financial statements and reports.
- Maintains and develops automated accounting systems, controls, and procedures.
- Prepares and develops reports for management and/or for regulatory authorities.
- Responds to inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures, and issues from management, external auditors, and regulatory authorities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Five or more years of experience in financial accounting activities.
- External & Bank reporting experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Investment portfolio and Securities industry experience.
- Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations.
- Considerable knowledge of accounting, reporting, and analysis.
- Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and to analyze data.
- Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.
