Overview
We’re excited to be looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Reporting to our Assistant Controller, you will have the opportunity to support a wide range of areas within the accounting function while leveraging your own creative thinking and problem-solving skills to mold this role.

What You’ll Do
- Oversee G&A accounting each month, including month-over-month actuals analysis, budget/forecast vs. actual, and alignment & reviews with department managers.
- Review monthly G&A expense accounts for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensure that expenses are consistently coded to enhance period comparison analysis.
- Collaborate with A/P on coding and processing of invoices in our A/P software, Tipalti.
- Work closely with the FP&A team to review expense coding to make sure it aligns with budget/forecast.
- Oversee maintenance of monthly expense accruals.
- Help support with prepaid expenses and the monthly amortization.
- Leverage NetSuite to find automation opportunities to streamline recurring processes.
- Build monthly reports that give the team and overall company insight into monthly G&A spend.
We're Looking For Someone Who Brings
- 1-2 years of accounting experience (internships count).
- Experience working for a company that sells inventory in the retail or ecommerce space.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- NetSuite experience is a plus.
- An active CPA license is a plus.
- A track record of improving accounting processes and systems.
- Strong collaboration skills and an impeccable eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills – email etiquette and professionalism are essential.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Compensation & Benefits
At Brooklinen, our goal is to offer a competitive total compensation package which we determine based on specific market data taking into account our company size, stage, industry, and location. The base salary range for this role is between $60K - $65K.
Beyond base salary, we contribute significantly to offset the cost of health benefits, provide a financial stipend through Carrot Fertility to help with the costs associated with the fertility journey, offer a 401K with a 4% Safe Harbour match, have commuter benefits, and also provide a yearly product allowance.
We have 14 weeks of 100% paid parental leave for all new parents, year-long Summer Fridays, a workday that starts at 10 am, four weeks of vacation, and a one-month paid sabbatical at your 5th anniversary.
