Senior Fund Accountant
NYC Private Equity - Investment Management Firm
J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Fund Accountant at a prominent NYC Private Equity - Investment Manager.
An exciting opportunity reporting directly to the CFO of this fast-growing and dynamic investment organization that is experiencing exceptional growth! The Senior Fund Accountant will be responsible for supporting the operations of the funds and the firm. This position requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical skills, and strong communication skills are essential.
This individual will be a significant contributor in enabling their vision and helping the organization to grow and improve their businesses. To be successful in this role, you must be highly detail-oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines, and have first-class communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Record monthly journal entries and prepare bank reconciliations
- Calculate and forecast performance fees
- Prepare partnership allocations
- Maintain highly sensitive confidential information
- Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
- Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations
- Assist with bank covenants
- Assist with tax administration
- Maintain the books and records of various entities
The ideal candidate would have a background including:
- 4+ years directly relevant fund accounting experience, with preference given to experience at a private equity, hedge fund manager, fund administrator, or public accounting organization
- A strong understanding of accounting theory and practice
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
Education:
- Strong academic record and a bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

The salary range is $90,000 - $125,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable laws.
