Title: Parent Ministry Manager
Salary: Support raised with stipend supplement
Location: Remote/Gainesville with a flexible start date
Overview:
Parent Ministry provides an appropriate level of information to parents while also encouraging them to embrace their own journey, which includes “letting go” as their sons and daughters consider and participate in our World Race programs. You will be the primary liaison between parents and Adventures in Missions (including the program directors, squad mentors and other staff involved in World Race, Risk Management, Logistics, etc.). This role includes coordinating parent resources and their connection to Adventures.
Areas of Responsibility:
-
Communication with Parents at all stages of the process: initial inquiry/consideration, pre-launch, during the Race and after the return home.
-
Respond to phone calls and emails in a timely manner.
-
Proactively communicate with each launch group via email, GroupMe groups, zoom meetings and texts.
-
Handle significant parent concerns, especially once Racers are on the field; get in touch with squad leadership or risk management as necessary.
-
Creation and maintenance of resources for parents, including the Parent Resource Site, the Parent Guide and other relevant materials.
-
Trust building with parents through excellent execution of the above, active engagement in the chat groups and general tone of conversation.
-
Management of the Volunteer Interest Form.
-
Parent Launch oversight, working with WR on the logistics and schedule. This includes creating the registration for the event, communicating the registration information to parents, overseeing catering orders or hotel contract info, scheduling speakers, preparing materials.
-
Parent Vision Trip coordination. This includes working with WR on dates and locations, creating the trips in Service Reef, managing Racer communication and invitations, sending the invitations to invited parents, mobilizing the trip (following up on applications, payment, forms, tasks, etc.). In addition, there is updating and maintaining of the PVT dashboard and trip workbook, as well as recruitment and training of facilitators.
Necessary Skills:
-
Ability to relate well to parents of adult children. If you are not the parent of an adult child, you will need to provide evidence of your ability to create trust based relationships in that space.
-
Strong writing and phone communication skills, including the ability to convey both empathy and necessary boundaries.
-
Basic spreadsheet skills.
- General ability to navigate platforms such as Service Reef, GroupMe, AirTable, etc. (training provided)
- Flexibility - the ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary. This is not a 9-5 job. It does involve evenings and weekends on occasion, but also has daytime flexibility.
Requires a Christian faith commitment and acceptance of Adventures in Missions' Statement of Faith, the ability to articulate that in conversation with parents, and a willingness to pray with parents.
