Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor - Data Center Construction

Turner & Townsendis seeking an experiencedCost Manager /Quantity Surveyorto providecostcontrol andestimatingservices on a leading technology client’s large-scaledatacenterconstruction program.
To be successful in this role you must have great communication skills and becomfortable operating in a client-facing role.
Responsibilities:
- Estimatingand negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Provide estimate andcostplanningto include producing and presenting the finalcost plan.
- Review and participate with thedesignservices team andgeneral contractor, in the development of thecost estimates.
- Reconcile changes and assist thegeneral contractorto ensure that theirdatais accurate.
- Communicate or meet withgeneral contractorand owner project manager to gather status information to prepare acostestimate update.
- Prepare written comments to thegeneral contractor’s submissions, including the executive summary.
- Coordinate all sources ofcostinformation forcostdiscussions and suppliers direct from NPA, subs, quantities from A/Es.
- Inform and drive engineering priorities based oncostimpact.
- Work proactively with minimal supervision to resolveschedulingissues.
- Managecostchecks and carry out valuations on larger projects. Complete timely, accuratecostchecking and valuation processes.
- Participate effectively with post contractcost variancesand the change control processes.
- ManageCostimpact / contingency management and commitmenttrackinglogs.
- Prepare fundingdatapresentations andcoordinateVE sessions with stakeholders.
Pre-Contract
- Developingcost plansand estimates through thedesignphase, delivering updatedcost plansat appropriatedesignmilestones.
- Providing commercial input todesignoptioneering and input into value engineering exercises.
- Reviewing contractor and subcontractor pricing and leading negotiations on behalf of the client to drive fair contract prices.
Post-Contract
- Performing quantity surveying,cost controlsand change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensuring that post-contractcost variancesand change control processes are managed effectively.
- Ensuring thatcost auditingand valuation work is managed effectively and that a robust process forcostvalidation is in place.
- Carrying out the production of monthlycostreports for presentation to the client.
- Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed in a timely manner.
- Compiling as builtcostestimate records forbenchmarkingpurposes.
- Demonstrated experience working in a constructioncostmanagement role.
- College and/or post-graduate degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
- RICS accredited or working towards.
- Experience of leadingcostmanagement on medium or large sized construction projects of medium to high complexity.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as differentprocurementroutes, value management and value engineering.
