Income Tax Professional – North Barrington, IL
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Income Tax Professional to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in individual, fiduciary, and business tax planning and compliance. In this role, you will work closely with our estate planning and business law teams to provide strategic tax advice, help minimize tax liabilities, and ensure compliance with ever-changing tax regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review complex individual, fiduciary, and business tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Provide strategic tax planning advice to high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and estates to minimize tax exposure.
- Analyze tax issues related to trusts, estates, partnerships, corporations, and closely held businesses.
- Assist with the preparation of estate and gift tax returns, including Form 706 and Form 709.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and make recommendations to clients.
- Keep up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations, particularly those impacting high-net-worth clients and closely held businesses.
- Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, and other professionals to provide comprehensive client solutions.
- Provide audit support and representation during tax audits and examinations when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or EA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in income tax preparation and planning.
- Strong understanding of individual, fiduciary, estate, and business taxation.
- Knowledge of estate planning and tax strategies for high-net-worth individuals and businesses.
- Experience with tax software and financial planning tools.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with trust and estate tax returns.
- Experience working with law firms or wealth management firms.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
