We are looking for a Senior Commercial Underwriter to join the team at our downtown Orlando commercial banking division. This position is responsible for preparing complete and accurate credit analyses in a timely manner that meets or exceeds internal business partners' needs, client expectations, regulatory requirements and leading industry practices. They are accountable for protecting FAIRWINDS by providing an unbiased and objective view of the prospective borrower and thoroughly disclosing all identified risks. This position will start on-site and transition to hybrid (if desired) after the initial training period. Compensation for this position is expected to average at $90,000/year (pending experience) and is bonus eligible.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accountable for protecting FAIRWINDS by providing an unbiased and objective view of the prospective borrower and thoroughly disclosing all identified risks, determining mitigants, and disclosing in the credit approval memorandum.
- Works with the Lender to obtain all necessary information to underwrite the credit request.
- Reviews and analyzes borrower financial information including corporate financial statements and tax returns to determine borrower financial condition and develop cash flow analysis.
- Reviews and analyzes personal financial information for guarantors including personal financial statements, tax returns, real estate owned schedules, and liquidity statements to determine financial strength of guarantor.
- Determines Borrower's Risk Rating & Loan Risk Rating.
- Works with the Lender to structure credit requests that serve the best interest of the client and FAIRWINDS.
- Completes Credit Approval Memorandum.
- Prepares spreads to aid Lender in determining whether to move forward with a request.
- Identifies opportunities for expanding the existing relationship.
- Acts as a lead for Underwriters providing guidance and support as needed.
- Assists Portfolio Managers with annual, semi-annual or quarterly reviews as required.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent in specific work experience.
- Master’s degree in related discipline or formal credit training preferred.
- Four to six years of related experience in Financial Services, Banking, Credit Analysis, Loan Review or similar background preferred.
- Experience with nCino, Sageworks, Moody’s, and CoStar preferred.
- Strong written communication skills.
