Salary: $3,169.24 bi-weekly. (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.)

DESCRIPTION:
This position is critical to the delivery of mental health and substance abuse services by creating and developing the standards for mental health and substance abuse treatment provided to the youth we serve. In addition, this position will ensure compliance with department rules, policies and standards regarding mental health and substance abuse services for youth assigned to the care and custody or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide training and technical assistance for Juvenile Probation Officers (JPOs) (i.e., overdose and suicide prevention) with SkillPro and on-site training when requested.
- Collaborate and support the Office of Talent, Leadership & Culture (TLC) concerning JPO Academy curriculum to increase field overdose prevention and suicide prevention/awareness.
- Assist JPO’s with connecting families of deceased youth to bereavement support resources.
- Work on special projects and initiatives to address public health concerns or trends, (e.g., firearm harm-reduction, safety planning for clinicians/caregivers/supervision plans).
- Provide clinical webinars for providers with potential Continuing Education credits.
- Draft contract language for mental health and substance abuse services.
- Serve as an evaluator for Probation procurements with clinical content.
- Follow-up on Probation CCCs relating to mental health.
- Provide support to probation headquarters staff and field staff.
- Is the subject matter expert for clinical questions from providers.
- Ensure the delivery of high quality, effective, evidenced based mental health and substance abuse treatment services.
- Support providers with clinical staffing issues.
- Serve as a point of contact for MQI regarding probation standards related to mental health and substance abuse.
- Serve on the State Review Team.
- Liaison between CPOs and other agencies at the state level.
- Assist Commitment Managers with placement and review of Comprehensive Evaluations.
- Provide training to Comprehensive Evaluation providers to increase quality of evaluations.
- Conduct Day Treatment Pre-Ops and Start-Ups, when applicable.
- Assist with complex cases including SIPP/APD placements.
- Serve on workgroups/committees as needed.
- Provide professional presentations at conferences/trainings.
- Provide assistance with communicating mental health/substance abuse issues to the judiciary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to organize work, coordinate with others as necessary, and work independently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and the creation of Power Point presentations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.
- Ability to conduct research and formulate policy recommendations.
- Licensure as a psychologist under Chapter 490, F.S., or Licensure as a mental health counselor, clinical social worker or marriage and family therapist under Chapter 491, F.S., is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master’s degree or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, counseling, or clinical social work.
- At least two years clinical experience in delivery of mental health and substance abuse services preferably associated with youth correctional facilities.
- Experience in trauma informed care, gender specific services and behavioral therapy within juvenile justice settings, as well as substance abuse therapy and treatment.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- This position requires traveling within the south region to provide quarterly monitoring, training and technical assistance in DJJ Detention Centers and as needed.
