Job Description
FUNCTION: The Parcel Auditor is responsible for the overall maintenance and services as it relates to assigned customers' parcel contracts. This position facilitates the general processing of all customer and carrier related tasks to interpret contracts, execute audits, and provide customer, carrier, and/or sales support and reporting. This includes filing claims, managing accounts, mastering varied software applications, and conducting research necessary to file such claims or follow up on outstanding items. The Parcel Auditor acts as a liaison between our customers and their parcel carriers.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Manages parcel carrier contracts including the interpretation, accurate application of contract into audit programs, and account maintenance.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of parcel rate contracts (tables and discounts) in order to address rate issues and identify root causes.
- Manages the claims process as a result of parcel EDI invoicing audits by mastering the claims process with all carriers for any of the audited areas. This includes making decisions about the validity of claims as well as addressing contested claims.
- Acts as the liaison between the customer and the carriers' sales representatives, collections departments, customer service departments, and electronic data interchange (EDI) coordinators to respond to any questions or concerns with the accounts.
- Regularly works directly with carriers on aging and accounts receivable for parcel accounts processed through Cass.
- Utilizes proprietary programs for importing, tracking, claims processing, report generation, account maintenance, and general maintenance of carriers' published data including transportation, surcharges, and service terms and conditions.
- Processes carrier refund checks following investigation if necessary.
- Provides superior customer service and support for inquiries, tests, analysis, research and regular contact with key personnel.
- Gains a working knowledge of each customer's volume, guaranteed service refunds (GSR), waivers, payment practices, etc.
- Coordinates payment information between customer and carrier as necessary in a support role.
- Sets up new customer and audits profiles for system accuracy.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.
- Moderate level of proficiency in Excel for managing spreadsheets.
- Strong, well-developed interpersonal skills in order to maximize client responsiveness.
- Develop working relationship with both internal and external clients.
- A high level of analytical skills to process client inquiries, evaluate client requests and procedures, implement as appropriate, and to understand the client's operational and processing systems.
- Task-oriented and process-driven attributes with ability to think past directives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively accomplish work autonomously.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED:
- A technical level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree in business administration, data analysis, or related area or equivalent experience.
- Two or more years of experience in data processing/systems analysis or related work.
- Two or more years of customer relations experience in a technical service environment.
