Summary:
We seek a Senior Financial Analyst to partner with the Stayton manufacturing facility to enhance the cost accounting function and provide insights to drive operations performance. They are expected to have strong analysis, organizational, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on contributor and partner to the plant leadership team, working with manufacturing associates, supervisors, and functional leaders to apply expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and financial analysis to daily operations. Most of all, they will be committed to the RedBuilt “Why” and dedicated to guiding the company’s long-term success. This role will be based in Stayton, OR, and will report to the plant controller with a dotted line to the plant manager.
Position Responsibilities:
- Cost Analysis: Perform detailed cost analysis for manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording/reporting of costs related to production processes, materials, labor, and overhead.
- Variance Analysis: Monitor and analyze actual costs against budgeted costs, identifying and investigating monthly variances to ensure cost control and efficiency.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory tracking, valuation, and physical count and reconciliation processes, ensuring compliance with accounting and control procedures.
- Cost System Maintenance: Ensure the accurate and up-to-date maintenance of the cost accounting system, reviewing and improving cost accounting processes.
- Month-end Close: Support the month-end closing process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting related to plant cost accounting.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, support the annual financial statement audit, providing necessary documentation and explanations as needed.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team and plant leadership to develop and maintain annual budgets and monthly/quarterly forecasts, providing insightful analysis and recommendations for cost optimization.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct and report on ad-hoc financial analysis to support financial decision-making in capital expenditures, maintenance, procurement, shipping, and other plant decisions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, shipping, maintenance, and others to analyze and improve operational efficiencies, cost performance, and asset utilization at the site. Work with other plant locations, departmental functions, and broader finance team as required.
Other Duties:
- Engage in monthly S&OP process to support operations leadership and forecasting.
- Work with Plant Controller and other finance leaders on financial statements, audit, local tax and controls.
- Take direction from Plant Controller on plant metrics, inventory management, and cost accounting methods.
- Present financial reports to plant leadership and business executives.
- Utilize financial dashboards and reports in NetSuite and Power BI.
- Identify appropriate plant KPI’s and create financial models to support KPI reporting as needed.
- Participate in and lead plant operations 5S and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Core Competencies:

- Excellent cost/financial analysis skills using Excel or similar tools.
- Experience with Power BI or other data analytics platforms.
- Proficiency in an ERP or MRP system, NetSuite preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in the finance, accounting, or operations functions.
- Prefer experience as a cost accountant, financial accountant, or operations analyst in a manufacturing environment.
- Track record of applying analyses to improve business performance.
- CMA, CPA, CFA certification or an advanced degree is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Office work with prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
- Manufacturing environment, expected to safely walk and periodically work in active operations, shipping, and storage areas.
- Occasional weekend or extended work hours to support month or quarter-end inventory counts and accounting close.
- Potential for intermittent travel up to 10% to support other locations in OR, CA, OH and ID.
Reports to: Plant Controller
Work Location: Stayton, Oregon. After on-boarding period, may consider a hybrid work arrangement for up to 2-days per week, subject to manager approval.
