Job Description:
Join us as the Senior Research Analyst at the Office of Research, Assessment, Data, Accountability, and Reporting (RADAR), and help support ODE and partners throughout the state to leverage data, research, and evidence to support improvement of educational opportunities and to advance equitable outcomes for Oregon’s multilingual students. As a key player in the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), you will perform data collection, analysis and reporting in support of the RADAR and ODE missions.

The Office of RADAR stewards the Oregon Department of Education’s research and data justice initiatives, as well as the federal assessment and accountability requirements present in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The office collects, validates, analyzes, and reports data for continuous improvement, educational research, policymaking, and operations.

What you will do!
As the Senior Research Analyst, you will perform data collection, analysis, and reporting in support of RADAR’s school and district accountability and data reporting. This position will focus on the execution of routine collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of data collections.
The main duties of this position are to provide data support for the following programs:
- Federal ESEA Title IA – Improving Basic Education
- Federal ESEA Title IIA – Teacher Quality
- Federal McKinney-Vento Act
- State-required Physical Education collections
Minimum Qualifications (Need to have):
A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, and three years experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports. Two of the three years must have included coordinating complex research projects.
OR
Five years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports. Two of the five years must have included coordinating complex research projects.
In addition to the above requirements, some positions require one or more of the following:
- Experience in using trends such as social, economic, or industrial to do analytical research
- Experience using advanced statistical or quantitative analysis computer applications
- College-level course work in advanced statistics or quantitative analysis that includes such methods as multiple regression, factor analysis, analysis of variances, and discriminant analysis
Desired Attributes (Nice to have):
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess a compelling combination of the following background, skills, and experience:
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, SQL, and with statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, R or a similar product. Experience with Tableau is beneficial.
- Strong project management skills and experience scoping and directing large scale projects and/or project tasks.
- Ability to take broad concepts and convert them to guidance or policy and direction.
- Experience in oral presentations and presentation software.
- Experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and multiple modes of data presentation to communicate to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge and experience with culturally responsive and equitable evaluation methods.
- Ability to solicit and value diverse viewpoints.
- Ability to collaboratively work across the agency, and with state government, school districts, and public schools.

- Salary Range: The range listed is the non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
