Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant is responsible for contributing to all aspects of accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting oversight for Guardian’s 70+ independent and company-owned agencies. Responsibilities include supervisory accounting review of deliverables prepared by on and offshore accounting teams.
You will:
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including the preparation and/or review of monthly accruals and other estimates.
- Prepare and/or review quarterly general ledger account and system interface file reconciliations, including assisting with the preparation of quarterly corporate attestation reports.
- Provide schedules and coordinate the delivery of financial information to the Company’s internal auditors and independent accountants.
- Preparation and/or review of Year End 1099 tax reporting schedules and coordinating filings with the company’s tax department.
- Participate in internal controls testing & response coordination, as well as assessing current accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
- Supervise review and follow-ups for deliverables prepared by the offshore accounting team.
- Supervise company-owned agency accountant’s compliance with financial reporting and expense reimbursement policies.
- Analyze financial results and identify sources of variances and trends.
- Identify and assist with implementation of opportunities to automate and enhance processes.
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting.
- 3+ years of applicable accounting and financial analysis experience.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and control procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to adapt and work effectively in a changing environment.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate and improve processes.
- Ability to manage priorities and be accountable for meeting deadlines.
- Curiosity and drive to pursue personal development.
- Strong knowledge of Excel.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle general ledger system, and SmartView is a plus.
- Insurance industry knowledge is a plus.
Salary Range
$79,350.00 - $130,365.00. The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
