Senior Accounting Manager - Corporate | Summit Healthcare Mgmt | Franklin, Tennessee
About the Job:
The Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting is responsible for directing and coordinating all the corporate office’s accounting activities concerning financial administration including general accounting, payroll accounting, operating facility allocations, budgeting, financial and statistical reporting, consolidation and financial statement preparation including cash flows, and all other aspects of the corporate’s accounting department. Responsible for monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, account analysis and monthly closing entries. Supervises all daily functions of the corporate accounting department and assists the Controller in completion of year-end schedules, annual budget preparation and internal and external audits.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Works directly with the Controller, accounting, financial operations, IT, and other stakeholders to support implementation of financial systems, processes, controls, and procedures for accounting functions ensuring compliance with US GAAP standards.
- Plans and monitors budget and fiscal integrity for a given year consistent with company mission and goals. Develops and achieves budget targets for the department and assists with the corporate budget for other corporate departments.
- Oversees daily operation of corporate accounting department.
- Leads a team of highly engaged members through hiring, orienting, performance assessment and management, motivating, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals and ensure effective and efficient department operation.
- Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budget and collaborates with department heads on means of improving trends. Monitors the expenditures of the corporate entities to maintain compliance with the budget. Operates within the confines of the annual budget as adjusted for volume.
- Facilitates timely closing of monthly financial records and preparation of accurate financial reports. Prepares or reviews general journal entries in relation to monthly closing of financial records to include various traditionally more complex accounting areas such as debt, derivatives, and self-insurance programs.
- Ensures compliance with all reporting requirements and prepares required reports. Prepares data for Medicaid and Medicare Home Office Cost Reports.
- Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures and works with department managers and corporate staff to develop long range improvement plans for the company.
- Contact for financial audit tasks and inquiries related to the corporate entities and provides recommendations for procedural improvements.
- Supervises and reviews reconciliations of balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Serves as a backup for the Corporate Accounting staff when needed.
- Oversees accurate reporting of fixed assets and lease accounting for the consolidated company.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Seven or more years’ related accounting experience required, preferably in a health care setting.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Multi-entity and healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
- Technical accounting experience and familiarity with accounting for mergers & acquisitions is highly valued.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications:
- Active CPA license preferred.
Supervisory Requirements:
- Minimum four years of supervisory experience required.
