Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist/Accountant position will be responsible for all accounting duties related to payroll and for analyzing and implementing GAAP requirements, preparation and analysis of financial statements. The position will also be providing recommendations for control risk mitigation. Understands complete business process in the ERP system. Significant involvement in company audits. Able to work independently on multiple processes with limited oversight and ability to meet deadlines.
Job Duties:
- Independently understand, analyze, and communicate GAAP requirements and apply appropriately to business processes.
- Full Cycle Payroll:
- Enter and Check timesheets for accuracy.
- Enter Data into database and spreadsheets.
- Process and fund biweekly payroll.
- Ensure payroll processing is accurate, compliant with company’s policy and labor laws and regulations.
- Keep payroll records up to date.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues and effectively communicate with employees.
- Collaborate with the HR team when needed to ensure accurate payroll data.
- Ability to support audits and reporting.
- Enter journal entries and accruals related to payroll processes.
- Prepare complex account reconciliations.
- Financial Statements and Reporting:
- Financial statement analysis.
- External Reporting.
- Business Controls:
- Cognizant of and independently recommends changes and improvements for control over Finance functions.
- Able to problem solve existing processes, identify and implement solutions including new process changes that can affect cross-functional areas.
- Able to assess and implement Sarbanes Oxley control requirements.
- ERP system / manufacturing systems:
- Understanding of full cycle business process and reporting available in ERP system.
- May be responsible for integration of multiple accounting applications.
- Significant involvement in audits including communication, research and analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience, and abilities required.
Education and Training:
Formal education in Accounting or related academic field or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Five years’ experience as payroll specialist or payroll manager. Strong internal communication skills to Sr. Mgt and among management of cross-functional areas.
Other:
Must be willing to work overtime as required.
Desired Job Qualification:
- Experience with Epicor software systems.
Skills:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Proficiency in MS Office, enterprise resource planning, database, and specialized application software.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $65,000-$85,000. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
