General Accountant @ Tilt
Team: Finance
Tilt (check us out here) is looking for a General Accountant to join our team and help us scale our business by leading our accounting function and have opportunities to help improve accounting processes, develop new procedures, implement new financial systems and take ownership of the company’s financial statements. This position is a full-time role reporting to the Finance Manager. We want you to be successful here at Tilt! Job Description
Responsibilities will include ️
- Work to deliver best-of-breed accounting policies and strategies, including maintaining the general ledger, leading month-end close, preparing journal entries, preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations that track fixed assets, prepaid expenses and accruals
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and systems to ensure compliance with GAAP and other current accounting standards
- Own the Accounts Payable process: collect invoices, process payments timely and maintain vendor 1099s, including expense reporting
- Invoice customers, recognize revenue and follow up on past due receivables
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce timely and accurate financial reports and variance analysis on a monthly basis
- Coordinate corporate tax reporting and the preparation of tax returns with outside tax accountants
- Take a leading role in our forthcoming first annual audit by gathering and providing support and providing recommendations for improvements
- Streamline systems and processes to drive efficiencies and automation within the financial reporting lifecycle
You’re a great fit if
- You have experience and a proven track record of 2+ years of General Ledger accounting in a fast-paced environment
- You have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including an understanding of GAAP, and general auditing procedures
- Self-starter with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- You have high levels of empathy and can connect deeply with Tilt’s mission
- You are comfortable working in ambiguous environments and know that we need your help to figure things out
- You are a comfortable using a lot of systems at once, and have the ability to learn software quickly
- You’re fearlessly flexible, curious; aka you thrive in this environment and love a challenge!
- You have experience working with a startup and/or with a B2B SaaS business

Total Compensation
The projected annual salary range is $75,000-85,000 USD plus stock options (ISOs), because we believe everyone should have some stake in our business. We are people-first and this ain’t some PR jazz, we truly give a damn about our peeps!
