Description
The Trust Officer - Charitable Services (TO-CS) is responsible for meeting the trust needs of Bank clients and administering charitable trust accounts for Citizens Private Wealth (CPW). The TO-CS is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of charitable trust accounts and for working with CPW partners to introduce trust clients and beneficiaries to CPW's comprehensive suite of trust, investment, financial planning, insurance, and tax services. These duties include ensuring compliant trust private foundation administration; tax and states attorneys general filings and management, responding to beneficiary, government, and audit inquiries, and as applicable, working with charitable grant making committees and activities. The TO-CS will also support CPW professionals to attract and retain new clients by delivering education and information about estate plans and tax and estate savings techniques, especially related to philanthropic goals. The TO-CS will perform these duties with high proficiency and integrity acting in accordance with the Bank's fiduciary responsibilities and best fiduciary and risk management practices, as trustee.
10-20% travel will be required to meet responsibilities.
Primary responsibilities include
- Effectively establish and manage strong client relationships within an assigned book of trust and/or charitable trust/foundation accounts. Meet with beneficiaries, clients and their advisors periodically as appropriate.
- Manage trust relationship matters, including applicable beneficiaries, charities and other trust/foundation interested parties. Coordinate other CPW professionals and advisors to the trust to ensure best practices are met. Accurately interpret and apply provisions of trusts and wills consistent with applicable statutes and regulations.
- Proactively perform daily trust officer administration responsibilities and consistently deliver a quality CPW client experience. Present to various fiduciary/governance committees.
- Inform clients and beneficiaries of estate and trust planning strategies, including charitable strategies to include state fiduciary law and practices and related tax principles. Proactively interact with clients and their external advisors to implement estate plans at CPW.
- Partner with CPW and CFG colleagues to achieve business growth and retention goals.
- Partner with Senior Trust Officers in serving the need of complex trusts and/or estates. Participate in the training and development of Trust Associates.
- Develop a network of internal and external center-of-influence relationships.
Minimum Required:
- 5+ years of experience with a trust company / department
Preferred:
- Experience in trust administration and business development desired.
- Experience with charitable trusts or organizations preferred.
Education
- Bachelors Degree preferred.
