POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Finance function for UCP of Maine including but not limited to payroll, accounts payable, and financial recording and reporting. This includes adhering to established policies and procedures, developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing all Finance staff, ensuring compliance and task completion.
Starting annual salary: $60,000.00
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years’ experience.
- Supervisor experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff members.
- A valid State of Maine driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete all required financial entries on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure accurate financial statements.
- Complete monthly financial statements for all programs and agency in a timely manner.
- Maintain agency cash flow spreadsheet to ensure effective decision-making related to expenditures.
- Maintain and reconcile all agency bank accounts on a monthly basis.
- Maintain financial tracking of all UCP grants, communicating status with appropriate programs periodically.
- Take a leadership role in the annual agency financial audit, ensuring responsiveness and completion of tasks by due dates.
- Ensure compliance with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and filing requirements.
- Provide direct supervision of Finance Associates.
LEADERSHIP
- Play a lead role in UCP being a preferred employer by staff growth and celebration, strong supervision, guidance and support, and development and recognition.
- Foster highly integrated communication and collaboration within and among the teams.
- Adhere to UCP recruitment and hiring policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with State and federal laws.
- Hold staff accountable to compliance with all state and federal regulations and licensure requirements.
- Assure a safe working environment.
- Accurately and timely send all personnel documents to Human Resources for filing.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field and actively participate in professional development activities and trainings to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for the highest level of performance.
- Take active steps toward improving job performance by pursuing goals identified in annual performance appraisals, performance improvement plans, and constructive feedback from management and/or peers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 20 pounds, and push and pull against potential resistance.
- Adequate vision, reading, writing and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to maintain assigned work hours, having sufficient endurance to perform tasks over extended periods.
