Job Summary:
Serves as the Payroll Accounting Specialist in the Controller's Division. Responsible for functional activities and duties in support of the Centralized Payroll Function and other financial processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains account controls and reports relating to Payroll data. Responsible for providing details concerning payments of various NEXCOM Central Office and worldwide expenses.
- Responsible for the review monitoring analysis of unemployment claims and reimbursement payments to the U.S. Department Of Labor for claims paid on NEXCOM's behalf.
- Responsible for providing labor employment statistics to the U.S. Department of Labor on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Responsible for generating gross-up calculations for associates who have relocated.
- Responsible for providing payroll data for Workmen's Compensation and Disability claims.
- Provides wage verification data to such entities as the Social Security Administration, Internal Revenue Service, Office of Personnel Management, and Federal Investigation Services.
- Maintains contact with all levels of associates including co-workers, supervisors, branch managers, division directors, group directors, and all levels of management of outside companies.
- Responsible for the audit and monthly payment of the payroll provider's vendor invoices for services rendered.
- Processes biweekly payroll as necessary.
- Transmits biweekly payroll to ADP in absence of Payroll Manager.
- Supplies ADP produced tax debits to the Treasury, ADP text files to Accounting for posting to the General Ledger (GL), and supplies ADP 401(k) file check request to Accounts Payable.
- Trains new Payroll Technicians on applicable policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who outlines policy and procedures and is available for guidance in connection with unusually difficult problem cases.
- Work is reviewed on a spot check basis for accuracy and adherence to regulations governing assigned functions.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years of administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work which enabled the applicant to gain knowledge of accounting practices and procedures and to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1 year of academic study above the high school level which included 6 semester hours of accounting type courses may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4-year bachelor’s degree for 3 years of general experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year of responsible experience which required the candidate to acquire and apply knowledge of established accounting procedures and techniques, methods of reporting and procedures for performing payroll and/or accounting functions, analyzing and examining source documents to determine correct accountability.
