Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is looking for a motivated and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our company. The purpose of this role is to provide a full range of quality activities in direct support of the company’s business and support teams across the enterprise including responsibility for a Nuclear Quality Assurance program that fulfills the requirements of ASME NQA-1 and NRC regulatory requirements. This includes providing quality assurance (internal and external audits), managing regulatory and contractual compliance, managing governance (quality programs, business management system), delivering local and enterprise process improvement, promoting/managing customer focus (compliments and complaints), enhancement of partnerships, and change management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists in managing the SI quality / business management system – responsible for ensuring that the Nuclear Quality Assurance systems are implemented to fulfill ASME NQA-1 and NRC regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for quality system/team structure, process and procedures that are effective and efficient to meet current business requirements for both internal and external clients.
- Contribute to the effective development of our quality / business management system, including the ongoing review and development of procedures and processes.
- Actively support business managers and participate in enterprise quality projects as business processes and software systems are introduced for the first time or enhanced/updated.
- Assists in managing the SI quality assurance program – plans, coordinates, and assigns personnel for execution of formal internal and external (suppliers, vendors) audits to assure a high level of compliance with the SI quality program (including the Nuclear QA program), customer requirements, and associated regulatory requirements.
- Leads internal audits and related assurance activities.
- Manages corrective action program and facilitates root cause analysis activities. Apply a collaborative approach to help the business identify non-compliances, share best practices, and develop effective corrective action / improvement plans. Monitor progress of all offices and business units in implementing their plans.
- Delivers change and improvement - identify, suggest and assist managers with implementing change and developments to all processes and procedures to meet future business demands and improve current efficiency. Utilize process improvement skills and tools in leading teams to improve their business performance.
- Thought-leadership + external focus – provide quality lead support/advice to internal and external customers.
- Deal with complex queries and build relationships with internal and external clients, as appropriate, including resolution of support service problems.
- Mentor/coach other employees as appropriate to achieve effective specialist knowledge transfer and application of quality activities.
- Discuss/present quality reports/information with stakeholders (technical, business, client) and be able to suggest alternative solutions to satisfy technical standards and innovate wherever possible.
- Review and analyze data to provide management information / statistics, including the identification and reporting of process failures, to support the overall delivery of processes.
- Manages compliance – ensures compliance with applicable regulatory, code, and industry standard requirements and ensures that corporate regulatory disclosures are completed for quality functions.
- Industry involvement – participates in industry initiatives/meetings to develop knowledge of quality management as it relates to program trends, NRC concerns, and regulatory and technological developments.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Overall job knowledge and performance – in-depth understanding of quality and organizational excellence, program development, root cause analysis and corrective action program execution.
- Quality management + nuclear industry experience – five (5) years’ experience as a quality manager for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or an engineering organization performing nuclear safety-related design and/or analyses. Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, and NQA-1.
- Lead auditor – currently certified as a Lead Auditor in accordance with ASME NQA-1 or ability to obtain Lead Auditor certification within 3 months of hire.
- Team building – capable of developing strong interpersonal networks and trust within the organization, setting expectations and requirements.
- Problem solving – identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and reviews information appropriately. Uses own judgment and acts independently; seeks input from other team members as appropriate for complex or sensitive situations.
- General skills – excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong technical writing, exceptional organization and time management skills with ability to manage complex projects and large volumes of work.
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- Travel – 25% travel throughout the US is expected.
Desired Skills / Qualifications:
- Change management experience/certification.
- Process mapping, process engineering, process automation experience.
- Comfortable with a wide array of technology and software. Experience with automated quality management/corrective actions systems and software, advanced Excel skills, business intelligence is a plus.
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 17065 management systems also a huge plus.
- Minimum Ten (10) years expertise as quality manager for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or engineering organization performing nuclear safety-related design and /or analysis preferred.
- Familiar with ASME Code Calculations and ASME Code Design, especially ASME Section I and Section III.
- Familiar with ASNT-SNT-TC-1a requirements.
