Description
We are seeking a Business Analyst to support our software engineering and data warehouse teams. The purpose of this role is to help business stakeholders gather and document feature requirements, application and report functionality, and other development deliverables that are essential for our development teams to efficiently deliver high quality results. The role also serves as an agile coach, teaching and mentoring our development teams through the agile sprint planning and delivery process.
The ideal candidate for the role of Business Analyst should possess excellent communication and organizational skills, broad knowledge of business functions, project management, and scrum leadership experience. Certifications in agile, scrum, project management or equivalent experience are needed to successfully serve in this role.
This role is remote, but may require occasional travel to the corporate office in Denver. This role reports to the VP of IT.
Principal Job Duties:
- Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers, developers, and customers, to gather and document detailed business requirements for new software products.
- Backlog Management: Create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog to ensure the development team is working on the most valuable features.
- Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to ensure the team follows agile practices.
- User Story Creation: Translate business requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria that a development team can easily understand and implement.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between the development team and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of project status, risks, and deliverables.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve the agile process within the team to increase efficiency and quality.
- Project Management: Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or blockers, and work with the team to mitigate them to ensure timely delivery of product increments.
- Documentation: Maintain and oversee documentation efforts and ensure that multiple teams can leverage global knowledge coming from the information.
- Project Management Tool Management: Work with IT to take part in configuring and managing project management tools.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand and walk. This position may be required to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Qualifications- At least 3 years of agile process experience in various agile framework roles, preferably using Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence.
- At least 3 years of experience in a business analyst, project manager, product owner, or similar role.
- Strong experience documenting and improving work management processes.
- Strong understanding of typical software engineering and IT practices such as version control, change control, deployment patterns, and testing procedures.
- Strong ability to communicate complex topics between teams with vastly differing skillsets.
- Experience in self-storage or other similar industries a plus.
- Agile, scrum, or project management certifications a plus.
