State and Local Tax Senior/Experienced Associate (Local Hybrid)
In this role you will have the opportunity to join our growing State and Local Tax (SALT) group working with state and local taxes, including income/franchise, sales/use, B&O, and other Washington excise taxes, audit defense and administrative appeal representation. You will get experience delivering state and local tax advisory services, including refund reviews, nexus studies, taxability matrices, voluntary disclosures, tax minimization studies, and assisting with business development opportunities.
You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with passionate colleagues to plan, supervise, and execute holistic approaches to complex individual and commercial tax issues. This role requires that you work from our office in Bellevue at least 2 days per week. Some essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
- Participate in full range of State and Local Tax services including income/franchise and sales/use tax return preparation, tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, assisting clients in audit defense.
- Identify optimal filing positions, exemptions, credits and incentives, and identify corporate structures for tax minimization purposes.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients to exceed expectations, ensure satisfaction, make sure deadlines are met, and lead change efforts effectively.
- Work closely with members of other practice groups to develop internal relationships.
- Manage, train, and mentor associates and interns on client projects and professional development.
- Serve as a technical resource for associates and interns; begin to identify new technical issues in specialty area and take initiative to communicate with others on staff to increase awareness and understanding of the issue(s).
- Conduct sophisticated tax research, consulting, and analysis to discuss with managers, senior managers, principals, and shareholders.
- Assist shareholders and principals in preparation of Power Point presentations for business development purposes; begin to identify new work for existing clients and discuss with managers.
Education: Bachelors’ degree in accounting or finance or related field or a combination of education and directly related work experience; CPA or CMI and Masters in Taxation or LLM preferred.
Senior Level Experience: 3-5 years' prior experience in state and local tax compliance and/or consulting in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience.
Senior Level Salary Range: $79,048 minimum to $118,572 maximum salary range
Experienced Associate Level Experience: 3-5 years' prior experience in state and local tax compliance and/or consulting in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience.
Experienced Associate Level Salary Range: $73,193 minimum to $109,789 maximum salary range
