As the Assistant Vice President, National Flood Program Management (NFIP) role, you will be essential to the Program Management function. In this role, you will act as the central coordination hub for all NFIP related activities and integration with Assurant Private Flood products. This includes remaining proactive, avoiding complacency, and effectively delivering growth objectives within the NFIP industry and internal operations.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Execute the role of Principle Flood Coordinator to FEMA (by FEMA’s definition).
Liaise with compliance professionals to ensure Assurant’s participation in the NFIP satisfies existing requirements and communicate pending Program changes to Assurant NFIP stakeholders.
Coordinate internal and external audits required by the NFIP.
Be the point of contact and coordinate Department of Insurance (DOI) complaints and inquiries.
Recommend business function/service enhancement suggestions to various Assurant NFIP stakeholders.
Coordinate business function/service enhancement requests from various Assurant NFIP stakeholders.
Lead flood system triage activities and team to maximize resolution of user incidents internally prior to hand-off to the system vendor for research and resolution.
Identify training and communication opportunities based on triage activities/findings.
Liaise with professionals who conduct market research, risk analysis and other key data processes to obtain the information necessary to make good product and program decisions.
Identify opportunities and threats in the market and coordinate strategies to assist the company to overcome those potential threats.
Oversee and coordinate with internal teams to ensure consistent and timely content with Agent Playbook.
Work with various internal teams to ensure Salesforce content and functionality meet business needs for flood and ensure our Salesforce support associate implements changes for the teams based on agreed timelines.
Coordinate Operations processing and handling of Write Your Own (WYO) book acquisitions to ensure we meet contractual obligations for insurance agencies and policyholders.
Liaise with other WYO industry professionals as well as FEMA staff to encourage NFIP changes that move the program in the right direction. Build strong relationships with industry peers to help influence FEMA when suggested program changes will create poor agent/policyholder experiences.
Serve as the Assurant representative for IBHS and liaise with other key organizations (e.g. Big I, NFA, etc).
Pursue, secure and drive integration for new partnerships.
Serve as the integrator between claims, operations, and account management teams to ensure cohesive collaboration for storm season preparation and disaster response.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience.
A minimum of 8 years in the Property & Casualty (P&C) industry, NFIP expertise is highly desired.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in a leadership position.
Robust financial acumen and experience in budget management.
Demonstrated leadership with proven ability and accountability to lead initiatives in a highly matrixed organization.
Proven ability to partner and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to analyze data and perform root cause analysis, determining insights which lead to enabling targeted actions being executed to enhance performance and/or experience.
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
NFIP experience is highly desired.
ANFI designation (Associate in National Flood Insurance) or completion of certification within 1 year is required.
Experience in NFIP Underwriting is a plus.
Familiarity in working with government agencies, particularly with FEMA.
General understanding of property insurance outside of flood insurance.
Must be detail-oriented and well-organized.
