ResponsibilitiesThe Sr Accountant, Budget and Financial Analyst-NMG maintains the general ledger and financial records for the assigned service-lines and accounting units to ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting policies. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing, reviewing and analyzing financial statements, reconciling balance sheet accounts, distributing monthly financial and statistical reports and preparing audit schedules, as well as complex annual budgets, financial forecasts and re-projections.
- Assist with reviewing physician, APP and other employed providers’ contracts for accuracy in pay and benefits, ensuring payroll accurately matches contracts. Ensure that all provider RVUs are correctly reported within the software of choice at Norton Healthcare and that the Provider productivity report card is properly calculated. Calculate provider productivity bonus accrual and record journal entry in the financial system. Calculate provider KPI accrual in accordance with contract and properly record within the financial system. Ensure that all provider contract elements such as sign-on bonuses, retention bonuses, relocation expenses and CME expenses are properly paid and accounted for based upon the provider employment contract.
- Partner with key stakeholders to develop annual operating budgets for each of the assigned accounting units. Gather information from various sources to develop proposals for volume projections, staffing resources needed, drug and supply costs, professional services, travel costs and other measures. Enter budget proposal data into a budget software program used to consolidate annual operating budgets. Partner with key stakeholders to evaluate program tradeoffs and identify alternative funding methods to ensure attainment of operating targets, while identifying financial or operating risks associated with the execution of the proposed budget.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders in the preparation of periodic operational forecasts for the assigned accounting units using various statistical modeling and trend analysis. Assist in the preparation of pro-forma financials for various capital projects, acquisitions and provider employment agreements based on reviewing historical information and operating metrics to determine future financial impact. Perform ROI and cost-benefit analyses to determine the value of a given project to the organization.
- Complete assigned reconciliations and resolve reconciling items within designated time frames, reporting unusual issues to departmental leadership. Assist departmental leadership in preparation for DOR meetings. Complete audit schedules with appropriate supporting documentations, as requested. Perform account analysis and other financial project analysis, as deemed necessary.
- Facilitate the month-end close process for assigned accounting units. Balance revenue and contractual adjustments. Record statistics, payroll, administrative expenses and other interface entries from the various subsystems to the general ledger. Record recurring journal entries, reclassification/allocation entries, shared departmental allocations and accrual entries within the time frames outlined in the monthly close calendar. Review and analyze income statement and balance sheet for assigned accounting units to ensure accuracy. Analyze and prepare explanations for budget variances for the month, YTD and prior year run rates. Communicate questions and findings arising from such analysis to departmental leadership on a monthly basis.

- Bachelor Degree

- Master Degree
- Certified Public Accountant for the state (KY or IN) in which this position works.
