Job Summary:
A Leading, Northern California Agriculture Cooperative is looking for a talented, driven Senior Financial Accountant to join their organization. The Senior Financial Accountant under general supervision will contribute primarily to the Marketing Division on a day-to-day basis and will also provide assistance for the month-end and year-end close process including financial statement preparation. This includes recording standard and recurring journal entries, reconciliation and maintenance of various schedules including tax schedules, fixed asset accounting, bank reconciliations, and various account analysis. Ad hoc reporting and analysis will be completed as assigned as well as Other Duties as Assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Record essential transactions for the Marketing Division which includes Customer Invoicing, Accounts Payable, Grower Statements and Payables, and Crop recordkeeping.
- Prepare and maintain various accounts including GL, Vendor, Customer, Inventory, and other Sub-ledger schedules. This may include multiple entities.
- Prepare and process monthly general ledger journal entries for multiple entities.
- Prepare financial statements and various reports at month end for multiple entities.
- Assume a key role with preparation for year-end audit, including interfacing directly with outside audit firm.
- Reconciles various bank accounts including operating, line of credit and sweep accounts.
- Assist with treasury functions, including monitoring accounts, processing wires, ACH authorizations and other administrative treasury functions as needed.
- Prepare and processes various tax and fee assessments and payments.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of annual property tax schedules and reports.
- Assist with processing desktop deposits and the posting of incoming receipts as required.
- Assists with accounts payable and accounts receivable as necessary, which may include the processing of invoices and payment of company liabilities.
- Assists with the communication with various customers, growers and vendors regarding their accounts.
- Assist as required with the maintenance and reconciliation of the company’s chemical prepayment and rebate program.
- Assists in coordination and preparation of various company meetings and events, including annual meeting, board meetings, special meetings, and other meetings and events.
- Answers phones and greets and assists customers as needed.
- Assists with scale operations at various times of the year as needed.
- Other office duties and projects as required.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: Minimum of 2-year degree and 5+ years related experience or a 4-year degree and 3+ years related experience.
Skills Required: Windows based computer experience. Solid knowledge of full cycle GL Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable. Capable of working within strict timelines and working overtime to meet company and departmental objectives. Adept at communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Proven ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Compensation:
This position offers a competitive salary ($75-95k) depending on experience and qualifications. In addition: Medical, Dental, Vision insurance. Paid vacation, sick, and holiday pay. Retirement contribution.
