Base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location:
Orange, CT: $83,804.00 to $104,756.00
Rochester, NY, Portland, ME & Augusta, ME: $76,186.00 to $95,233.00
Responsible for managing and implementing innovative and commercially focused solutions for leveraging value through strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives. Provide leadership and motivate employees to create a vision, communicate a strategy, and effectively interface with other Company leaders. Establish and direct supplier partnerships, creates and implements cost reduction initiatives. Manages a team of Buyers and supports affiliate Operating Company critical infrastructure/major projects as the Procurement and Commercial Manager. Manages a team of Buyers in Purchasing that support responsible categories and lends experience and knowledge to assist others in the department and the business. Mentors the Buyers who administer the competitive bidding process for large and complex projects valued at up to several hundred million dollars. Selects suppliers and manages corresponding partnerships for all Avangrid operating companies. Drive cost reduction initiatives, customer service levels, generate reports and other initiatives across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Manages a team of Buyers who are responsible for administering the tendering process and commercial negotiations.
- Coordinates sourcing team efforts and assist in the development and execution of the strategic sourcing strategy. Responsible for team member development and overall group performance. Institutes programs and measurements to drive increased performance levels.
- Working knowledge of the US and Global Market for services and equipment with proven record negotiating contracts.
- Ability to understand and interpret advanced technical specifications into pricing models and make decisions based on a pool of variables including best available technology at minimum required investment. Leads cross functional sourcing teams through key sourcing steps including demand analysis, supply market analysis, development of competitive bidding documents, quantitative and qualitative evaluation of bids and negotiations. Leads cross-functional teams to drive procurement initiatives and improve bottom line performance. This includes participation in Global teams, RFP’s and initiatives with other affiliate businesses as necessary. Centralizes the procurement function for all affiliates and solicits assistance from subject matter experts and others within the business, as required.
- Participates in the development of annual sourcing performance targets and implement ongoing sourcing programs to meet performance targets. Applies creative new methodologies to the strategic procurement process. Maintains strong relationship between strategic and tactical groups and creates atmosphere conducive to cooperation and success.
- Ability to independently drive the successful implementation of new supply chain/purchasing procedures for the handling of high dollar awards, acting as a change management agent on behalf of the Procurement Organization.
- Experience in executing and developing the Procurement Sourcing Strategies for Critical Equipment and Services for key business areas, leading and coordinating local efforts in the US on behalf of the Global Procurement Organization. Ensure that these strategies capture the best available technology and/or relevant services, while meeting critical internal timelines at the most competitive cost, ensuring compliance with the business needs, internal QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment), and procurement policies.
- Negotiate and award multi-faceted, large and complex, business wide and affiliate specific enterprise contracts to minimize operational, legal and financial risks. Supervise and advise Buyers on Requests for Proposals/quotations/information, bid analysis, tenders, and risk evaluations. Directs supplier negotiations and subsequent agreements. Maintains current and accurate knowledge of commodities and up-to-date cost records for appraisal of procurement and suppliers’ performance. Analyzes trends and assist in strengthening the Company’s competitive position. Establishes and implements development plans for strategic sourcing team members. Coaches and mentors’ employees and recruits new members as necessary. Supports diversity and ESG+F programs and initiatives.
- Develops and presents reports to senior management and corporate Procurement function.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical and commercial information. The position will interact daily with Directors/Managers, Project Managers, Procurement Officers, Legal and other company leaders located domestically and internationally.
- Ability to support Business Development opportunities in competitive processes through establishing partnerships with strategic suppliers and contractors, providing detail pricing input, identifying efficiencies to reduce cost and negotiating terms and conditions.
