About this Career Opportunity:
Objective
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the Accounting Department and monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing related reports.
Essential Functions
- Develop, implement, and maintain systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial information.
- Achieve financial objectives by forecasting, budgeting, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and taking corrective actions.
- Monitor revenue and expenses, manage daily cash flow, consolidate financial data, and furnish data and reports for insurance audits.
- Prepare business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Establish and maintain accounting controls, including a chart of accounts and guidelines for policies and procedures.
- Assist Accountant with tax planning and corporate tax filings.
- Manage county tax filings and registration in new locales as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Oversee payroll, A/P, A/R, and credit card transactions.
- Protect the organization's value by maintaining the confidentiality of proprietary and sensitive data.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage accounting staff of two who are responsible for billing, collections, and payroll.
- Conduct performance evaluations and participate in recruiting as needed.
- Coordinate with the HR Manager to identify training needs for new and current staff.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of professional accounting experience, including 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint or similar timekeeping systems, Paylocity or similar payroll systems, and Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and attention to detail.
- Must be detail-oriented, dependable, and have a willingness to take on new tasks while prioritizing and completing existing projects on time.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
