You will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting, including assisting with financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger reconciliation. Responsibilities
- Accountable for reconciliation, preparation, and maintenance of assigned portion of the accounting system: enters data into system, verifies accuracy, processes transactions, and reconciles journals to appropriate sources (e.g. accounts, general ledgers, system(s), registers, reports, etc.)
- Assists with report preparation and accounting support activities of the division; ensures accuracy and consistency between multiple sources (e.g. accounts, ledgers, reports, etc.)
- Reviews a variety of source documents and financial records for accuracy, ensures process adheres to established policies, procedures and regulations
- Verifies and computes changes to financial transactions
- Researches, resolves, and balances assigned responsibilities (e.g. systems, accounts, registers, etc.); registers discrepancies and errors; researches and adjusts irregularities to ensure reconciliation of general ledger, register and/or accounts.
- Tracks cash from point of receipt through deposition within the City's financial system; reconciles all cash accounts
- Processes, reconciles and remits payments
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related field;
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Municipal experience preferred
Licenses and Certificates
- Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record that meets city standards
