The Senior Accountant is responsible for coordinating and performing accounting duties. The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include preparing journal entries and all related backup, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, preparing reports, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. This position must ensure all transactions are supported by accurate documentation and appropriate approvals. The Senior Accountant is responsible for meeting Department deadlines as set by the Vice President of Finance and Accounting Manager. This position involves the exercise of independent judgment, application of accounting techniques to a variety of situations, and the analysis of financial data.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Both independently and under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor, Senior Accounting Manager, and the Vice President of Finance, executes accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and other areas.
- Creates and posts journal entries for various areas and maintains clear supporting documentation.
- Prepares account reconciliations timely and accurately.
- Prepares required compliance reports and filings, including those required by the State and other regulators.
- Ensures accurate processing of accounting transactions; ensures all transactions are supported by appropriate documentation and approvals.
- Implements and executes document retention practices and procedures.
- Prepares support for the external audit as directed by the Vice President of Finance.
- Monitors transaction compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Analyzes complex financial records.
- Maintains effective relationships with clients/customers and vendors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in progressive accounting roles.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting methods and practices, including:
- Accounting procedures related to payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and cash processing;
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
- Experience with governmental accounting principles and practices preferred, but not required.
- Experience with accounting for event venues preferred, but not required.
Proficient in general office practices, including the utilization of accounting applications.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Detail-oriented with the ability to independently manage deadlines.
Collaborative mindset that works towards continuous process improvement and efficiency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sit, stand, walk, squat, bend (at neck and waist), twist, reach above & below shoulder level as needed throughout the shift.
- Simple grasping as well as repetitive use of hands and fine hand manipulation are needed to accomplish essential functions.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Frequently required to talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- May require work inside or outside of the building at various properties as needed.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, or moderately noisy when outside the office.
