Description
Directs the accounts payable and records retention operations of the university.
- Oversees all aspects of the university's operations for reimbursement and vendor payments to support university missions.
- Acts as university representative in payables interface with state offices, other universities and software user groups. Serves as departmental contact to management within university.
- Originates university payables policies and procedures; acts as system reference source for interpretation of new regulations, laws and procedures.
- Develops compliance programs and procedures to ensure the integrity of the disbursement process.
- Analyzes, evaluates, designs and implements automated payment process systems and enhancements to improve AP operations.
- Develops and conducts training sessions for users and employees.
- Reviews controls and quality measures of the payments process. Analyzes extraordinary accounting problems to determine accounting solutions.
- Ensures payables activities, both automated and manual, are recorded correctly into the university's financial reporting system; ensures payables entries interface accurately with the overall accounting structure.
- Plans long and short-range objectives for the accounts payable and retention departments.
- Administrates the federal reporting process for vendor's miscellaneous incomes. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Masters and 5 years experience
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of this level is typically demonstrated with a directly job-related Master's degree, license for Certified Public Accountant, or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
Department willing to accept experience in lieu of education but CPA/MBA or equivalent education highly preferred.
Position may be eligible for Alternative Work Arrangements (AWA).
Experience working in a managerial position at an institution of Higher Education.
Proficiency in PeopleSoft and other financial associated software.
Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education
