Job Title: Accountant, SR
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary: Standard accountant role with the duties of Accountant but with sufficient experience and skill for greater application of professional judgment. Duties will extend to more complex accounts and cost summaries requiring calculations to support revenue recognition. Applies research and judgment to resolve variances. Provides routine guidance in response to questions from outside the department. Provides routine analysis and reporting to management. Complies with and may provide tracking of internal control compliance, including J-Sox.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following with other duties as assigned:
- Identify opportunities and support implementation of processes for continual improvement (all outcomes including cost, speed, customer satisfaction, compliance with company and regulatory requirements).
- Fulfill responsibility for financial reporting as it relates to their functional area and comply with internal control objectives and defined activities.
- Does complex month end reconciliations, cost summaries, and journal entries as assigned.
- Is cross-trained to perform Sr Specialist 1 & 2, Transactional Accounting responsibilities.
- Is cross-trained to perform Lead Accountant 1 & 2, Financial Reporting responsibilities.
- Prepares reports which include historical results, variances, forecasts, and/or financial trends to support management (operating results, budgeting, etc.) and external (government surveys, taxes, audits, etc.) reporting requirements.
- Implements and maintains effective internal controls.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Education and/or Experience: Position requires completion of relevant training such as a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 3+ years’ experience or equivalent education and experience. Coordinate with Accounting management to achieve ongoing, personal vocational growth.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret standard business communication. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors, and employees. Ability to effectively present information to other employees including management.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form to perform established processes.
Physical Demands: Must be able to read physical and electronic records. Must be able to participate effectively in online meetings. Must be able to process paper records and operate office machinery such as stapler, printer/copier/scanner.
