JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction from the Controller, the Senior Accountant performs technical and complex accounting duties in the preparation, maintenance and review of financial records, accounts and reports. This position establishes and maintains new accounting and fiscal control records and procedures, interprets accounts and records. The position also assists in the preparation of fiscal analyses, financial statements, and budgets.

Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Preferred:
- Masters in Accounting or Business Administration.
Experience:
- Accounting experience (3 years).
- Understanding and practical use of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Familiarity with automated accounting systems.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with medical/dental clinics or practices, hospitals or other healthcare settings.
- Familiarity with grants.
- Exposure to Financing.

- Maintains accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with CHC’s policies and procedures, and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinates and prepares internal and external financial statements.
- Coordinates activities of external auditors.
- Coordinates activities of external tax return preparers.
- Prepares departmental and organizational budgets.
- Prepares grant specific reports.
- Performs analysis of operating statement, balance sheet and other financial reports.
- Provides management with vital information to the decision-making process.
- Acts as a department 'subject matter expert' on specific areas of accounting applications or functions, such as banking, revenue, medical expense and/or specific lines of business.
- Assesses current accounting operations, offers recommendations for improvement and implements new processes.
- Reviews and/or prepares monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Evaluates accounting and internal control systems.
- Participates in Treasury functions.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database.
- Develops and monitors business performance metrics.
- Participates in Corporate Finance Plan.
- Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
