We are seeking a Regulatory Tax Accountant to join our Accounting team. In this role, you will manage and assist with the daily operations of the accounting department while driving process improvements within our fast-paced environment.
This position will be remote but will require occasional travel for training and meetings to our headquarters located in Sioux Falls, SD.

The Role
- Assist in the preparation of returns, payments, reports and maintain a company’s tax database
- Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws
- Accurately prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports
- Keep up to date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications
- Review documentation, processes, and practices
- Develop and enact regulatory compliance strategies
- Coordinating regulatory compliance procedures across organizational structures
- Providing training in compliance practices and procedures
- Monitoring compliance and facilitating interventions to manage risks
- Performing compliance audits and compiling reports
- Documenting compliance-related processes and maintaining records
- Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and developments in the regulatory environment
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 3+ Year of experience as a regulatory compliance specialist, or similar
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relatable field required
- An accredited qualification in regulatory and compliance assurance will be advantageous
- Passing of all pre-employment requirements (Background Check, Drug Screen)
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Extensive knowledge of industry regulations and governing laws
- Exceptional analytical, investigative, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to clearly and concisely implement new processes. A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytics, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, adept in building relationships across the Company; excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent staff training skills
- Ability to work independently and cross functionally
- Experience with Avalara is preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, manual dexterity and close visual ability
- Must maintain confidentiality as may be required in the normal course of position performance
