Support all residency-related matters in NUHS as follows:
Institutional Coordination
- Represent NUHS Residency as Institutional Coordinator at all relevant meetings with external entities, e.g. Ministry of Health (MOH), MOH Holdings (MOHH), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International (ACGME-I), Joint Committee on Specialist Training (JCST), Singapore Medical Council (SMC), National Healthcare Group (NHG), Singapore Health Services (SHS), JurongHealth/Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).
- Coordinate and provide information as the Sponsoring Institution (SI) for national exercises, e.g. interviews, matching, exams, offer of training posts, etc.
- Liaise with ACGME-I, JCST and SMC on all accreditation matters and coordinate site visits as necessary.
Programme Administration
- Provide oversight and supervision of support for residency programmes.
- Oversee all accreditation-related matters.
- Support all Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) initiatives and activities, i.e. meetings, subcommittees, orientations, training programmes, etc.
- Coordinate and manage all JurongHealth/NTFGH-related matters for residency.
- Provide guidance and support to team of Program Coordinators (PCs).
- Support Programme Directors (PDs) in all residency-related matters.
- Surface and clarify queries with external parties accordingly when required.
- Develop and clarify internal/external policies.
- Troubleshoot problems with programmes and work across entities for clarifications.
- Ensure adequate support for programmes and subcommittees.
- Manage turnover, recruitment and appraisal of administrative staff.
- Engage administrative staff in programme updates and staff development plans.
Management of Resident Manpower and HR-related matters
- Work with programmes on all resident rotations (House Officer/PGY1, Medical Officer/”Junior Resident”, Senior Resident) to ensure equitable distribution to all departments.
- Mediate between departments on service needs and junior medical manpower allocation.
- Coordinate with MOHH on resident movements and posting requirements.
- Collaborate with MOHH HR on resident-related policies and processes.
- Facilitate resident promotions and exits.
- Work with Medical Affairs-HR (MA-HR) on resident appraisals and employment.
- Engage other institutions on recruitment/employment of residents.
Management of Financial and Budgeting Matters
- Maintain oversight of budget and funding mechanisms related to postgraduate education.
- Develop internal financial policies and procedures.
- Work with programmes and Finance department to submit annual budget requests for training needs.
- Allocate budgets to programmes and maintain oversight of utilisation.
- Approve claims and payments made by programmes.
- Provide clarifications to programmes on funding/budgeting matters.
- Manage MOH funding submissions and disbursements for residency.
- Work with NUH and NUHS Finance on funding receipts and disbursements.
- Work across entities on arrangements for funding disbursements to participating training sites.
Events Management
Involvement in all residency-related events which include but are not limited to the following:
- Residency OBS.
- Residency Open House.
- Residency retreats/workshops.
