Primary Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Assistant Finance Director
- Responsible for County and School fixed assets and County inventory.
- Serve as backup for reconciliations and Positive Pay.
- Prepares and enters journal entries for recording as well as reviews and approves journal entries of other staff members in the accounting system.
- Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Deputy Finance Director or Finance Director.
Grant Administrator
- Coordinates grant administration, contract compliance, and reporting for all public and private grants and contracts.
- Provides advice and guidance on the county’s grant-related policies and procedures.
- Prepare and submit invoices and reimbursement requests according to grant and contract specifications, as needed.
- Prepare and submit quarterly and final reports, in conjunction with department staff, on grant and contract proposals, as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining organized and up-to-date contract/grant filing system.
- Maintains working knowledge of federal and local regulations governing county contracts and provides basic training and answers questions on contract/grant regulations for county and schools department staff.
- May prepare all materials for contract/grant reviews and meets with reviewers when requested by funders.
- Assists in the coordination of fiscal planning and budget preparation for grant proposals.
- Collaborates with others on writing, submitting, tracking, and managing grant proposals as needed.
- Addresses administrative and budgetary issues that occur during the award period.
- Facilitates or supports the research and identification of funding opportunities in coordination with county departments, as appropriate.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Previous grant-related experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook) and related software applications including but not limited to web-based reporting software as is used with many grant platforms.
- Knowledge of local government organization and its departmental operating requirements.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to enhance and learn new skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work while adapting to constant changes in priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and deal effectively with people.
