Under general supervision, the Accountant is responsible for basic accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliations and account analysis.
Functional Responsibility
- Performs beginning to intermediate accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliations and other related tasks
- Assists Company and Accounting managers in researching general ledger activity and departmental spending levels
- Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions
- Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies and improve current process or procedure
- Cross trains in various accounting functions
- Assists senior accountants, Managers/Directors with special projects as required
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications
- Filing and other clerical duties as needed in supporting role
- SAP report writing and general report writing
- Builds working relationships with company cost center managers

Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a Bachelor’s degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting, is required.
2+ years business experience which includes some or all of the following: general ledger review/analysis, financial statement preparation and/or bookkeeping duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills
- Attention to detail/thoroughness with deadline-oriented focus
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel & Word
- Familiarity with an enterprise accounting system (such as SAP) is a plus but not required
Working Conditions
Office based position with occasional outdoor exposure to the winery

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
