What you will be doing:
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for ensuring accounting procedures and reporting aligns with generally accepted account principles (GAAP). This role plays a key part in managing and overseeing the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, while continuously improving systems and processes. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is excited to work in a fast paced, evolving environment and enjoys tackling challenges head on.
In this role you will:
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy in revenue recognition, capital expenditures (capex), accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Lead, develop, and manage an offshore accounting team, providing guidance and ensuring seamless execution of their job functions, from hiring and training to evaluation and goal-setting.
- Assist in the implementation and optimization of new accounting system during a company-wide software conversion.
- Conduct flux and variance analyses to identify trends and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data by monitoring and enhancing processes and controls.
- Support internal and external audits, liaising with auditors, lenders, and regulatory agencies to ensure smooth, timely reviews.
- Collaborate closely with departments such as Finance, Operations, Sales, HR, and Legal to address accounting-related issues and ensure cross-functional alignment.
- Research and address technical accounting issues, ensuring compliance with the latest guidance and standards.
- Contribute to special projects and additional duties as required, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
What You Need to Stand Out
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record of taking initiative and driving results in dynamic environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA license required.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP with the ability to apply this knowledge to complex, real-world scenarios.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a proficiency in problem-solving and identifying actionable insights.
- Superior knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Highly self-directed, motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Experience managing teams, including offshore or remote teams, is a strong advantage.
- SAP experience a plus, with a willingness to dive into system conversion projects.
- Experience in both public and private companies is preferred, with the ability to adapt to varied challenges and expectations.
