Description
North Florida Medical Services (located in Mandarin/Jacksonville, FL) is a growing management services organization which provides revenue cycle services to multiple surgical group practices. Our growing company is in need of a Coding Auditor to help conduct quality reviews of both clinical and non-clinical professionals. We are looking for an energetic, results-driven auditor who shares our passion for process effectiveness, continuous improvement, quality, and ongoing education of our providers and staff members on coding matters.
Top responsibilities include:
- Works with Coding and Compliance Manager to schedule and conduct focused retrospective quality reviews of physicians, mid-levels, and both internal and external coders.
- Works with Coding and Compliance Manager to assure coding accuracy is monitored and education provided based on the results of the coding reviews.
- Prepares reports for management review and identifies trends.
- Reviews are to be completed in a timely and routine manner, results compiled, and feedback presented to the appropriate personnel.
- Assists the Coding and Compliance Manager with the development of education materials for all staff on annual diagnosis and procedural coding updates, documentation and coding tips, and coding guidelines as needed.
Education & Experience:
- The Coding Auditor position requires a strong knowledge of Evaluation and Management and surgical coding and coding guidelines.
- Must have experience with professional inpatient and outpatient medical coding and billing.
- Minimum of two years of professional inpatient and outpatient medical auditing.
- Senior Coding Quality Auditor must have a minimum of three years of professional inpatient and outpatient medical auditing.
Requirements:
- CPC or CCS-P required.
- Must obtain the CPMA credential within the first 12 months of employment. Senior Coding Quality Auditor must already hold the CPMA credential.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field preferred but not required.
- High school diploma required.
Necessary Skills:
- PC knowledge.
- Good written and oral communication and customer service skills.
- Must have proficiency with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and coding/grouping software.
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and flexible.
- Able to demonstrate initiative and perform minimum productivity levels.
- Must have thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology and able to accept direction with changing priorities.
