About the Job
The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate and timely recording and accounting in a multi-brand operation. Duties include but are not limited to recording, analysis, and correction of balance sheet and income statement activity and balances. Duties include data input, exception identification, and reporting for assigned Brands.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Preparation and analysis of all accounts including the required journal entries, accruals, and other adjustments for all balance sheet and income statement accounts for assigned Brands by the month-end close schedule deadlines.
- Process and analyze financial transactions; verify and validate data.
- Complete assigned journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing calendars.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations; make Accounting Leadership aware of any discrepancies in need of resolution on a timely basis.
- Maintain the accuracy of the balance sheet and income statement assigned accounts on a US GAAP accrual basis.
- Prepare detailed statements and reports for financial transactions of assigned Brands, communicate to brand leadership and finance leadership.
- Prepare and explain variance analysis and explanation on the monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external reporting packages, including forecasts and budgets, as required.
- Prepare requests from outside providers, including auditors and tax professionals.
- Ensure capable of being back-up for key activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Skill Requirements:

- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.
- Technical skill of accounting process in multiple functional areas and possession of US GAAP accounting knowledge.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify issues and discuss with supervisor for timely resolution.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Able to look for ways to improve accounting processes and can communicate to supervisor in a thoughtful manner.
- Proficiency on PC and computer skills including Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time throughout the day.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Prior experience in general ledger close role, or public accounting experience and/or prior experience working with outside auditors is a plus.
- Preferred 2+ years work experience.
- Must have strong work ethics during high volume periods, including month end, quarter end, and year end close, and the budgeting season.
- Must be able to balance workloads and multi-task while remaining cognizant of multiple reporting deadlines.
- Exceptional personal initiative and desire to drive consistent improvement.
- Experience in a multi-company, multi-location environment highly encouraged.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem solving and analytical skills required.
- Advanced Excel skills using Formulas, Macros, and Pivot Tables.
- Knowledge and familiarity with NetSuite Accounting System is preferred.
