About the Role
This is a key role is producing accurate financial statements for our hospital sites. It includes work aggregating information from across the organization (for example Revenue Cycle, Accounts Payable, and Payroll), reviewing inputs for relevance and accuracy and formulating questions that will lead to more accurate results. It requires not only wide accounting knowledge, but also deep knowledge of our site operations and financial model. A rounded accounting education base and polished interpersonal skills for interaction with all levels of an organization are key to success in this role. Additionally, this position will be the lead for the Operations Staff Accountants, providing training / onboarding, as well as back-up support for the Regional Accounting Manager position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using standard processes complete the month-end close process for review by the Regional Accounting Manager
- Using a variety of data sources, determine the need for and prepare journal entries and draft and retain relevant supporting materials
- Prepare account reconciliations monthly, research and resolve variances
- Review data for hospital invoices, obtain follow up information and complete and distribute invoices and supporting documents for regional review.
- Regularly monitor Accounts Receivable reports and review and analyze customer accounts including determining the need credit memos or any invoice adjustments.
- Consistent application of process-level internal controls
- Analyze, research and understand variances in monthly results compared to budget; prepare summary variance information.
- Back-up Support / coverage for Regional Accounting Manager duties
- Provide training / onboarding for Operational Staff Accountants
- Other projects and duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
Education
- Minimum: BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, Business Administration or related field
- Preferred: CPA certification, or CPA eligible with path toward earning CPA
Experience
- Minimum: 1-3 years’ experience accounting work experience
- Preferred: 3-10 years’ of experience in an accounting, with some experience in a healthcare work environment
Other details:
- Occasional work requirements on weekends or beyond normal daytime work hours associated with month-end closings (once monthly)
- Sitting at desk working on computer for extended periods of time
- Working on computer for up to eight hours (with breaks)
- Moving/lifting file boxes (up to 25 lbs.)
