Job Title: Accounts Payable Intern

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
The Accounts Payable Intern will assist the Accounts Payable team with the supplier invoice payment process and provide a variety of assistance to all other areas within the Accounting department as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supports and assists the Accounts Payable area throughout the process of supplier invoices. Duties include:
- Processes invoices, which includes matching invoices to appropriate purchase orders and receipts.
- Reconciles and resolves vendor statements and open receipts.
- Prepares and enters month end accruals and other various journal entries.
- Completes and assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting
Experience: 1+ years related experience or training
Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of various PC based computer software packages including financial spreadsheets and word processing. Intermediate Excel.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills when interacting with internal and external customers.
- The applicant will have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute ratios and percentages.
- Ability to correctly make decisions involving client issues/problems including when to escalate the problem to a more senior consultant.
