The Supply Chain Finance team is seeking out driven, detail-oriented professionals to exercise GAAP principles while preserving the superior financial standing of our company. These personnel examine financial data for accurate costing, trends and opportunities, and performance against target. The Analyst will be responsible for analysis within the functional areas of the supply chain, including transportation, warehouse, procurement and inventory planning related transactions.
Responsibilities - Prepare, review and distribute monthly financial reports for the transportation, warehousing, or procurement divisions of Smithfield Foods.
- Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collecting operational data.
- Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plan and forecast.
- Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
- Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and monetizing opportunities.
- Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for assigned functional areas.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Assist in developing management reports through functional knowledge of our ERP system, including the following: SAP BI, SAP BPC & SAP General Ledger, as well as our transportation system.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and potential assignment to special studies/teams to assist management in evaluating key opportunities for the company.
- Compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal reporting requirements.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or Economics and 2+ years’ experience in reporting, consolidation and financial analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior accounting/GAAP knowledge.
- Experience in CPG industry is a plus.
- Bring a sense of urgency and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel, Power Point, PBI).
- Knowledge of data analytics systems and reporting functionality is a plus.
- Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
