WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a critical role in shaping a sound and profitable financial framework that aligns closely with our company's strategic goals. Specializing in the engineering services sector, this role is instrumental in advancing financial planning, analysis, and new proposal efforts. You will take charge of projecting revenues and expenses, crafting precise cost structures, and defining revenue recognition methods for projects. In close collaboration with the Program Director of Finance and other senior leadership, you will influence key financial strategies and policies, playing a vital role in driving the fiscal health and success of our programs and the overall company.
- Develop and refine financial models to enhance the financial performance of programs.
- Support the forecasting process and contribute to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Conduct contract analyses to ensure revenue recognition complies with GAAP standards.
- Provide detailed financial reports on current program statuses.
- Prepare and assist in the pricing proposals development.
- Evaluate potential contracting opportunities, assessing risks and opportunities.
- Enhance productivity through the development of automated accounting applications and coordinating necessary information requirements.
- Collaborate with senior management on long-term financial planning.
- Analyze variances between expected and actual financial results to identify improvement opportunities.
- Engage in comprehensive budgeting processes for both departments and projects.
- Ensure data accuracy in cost accounting transactions.
- Develop financial practices and policies in collaboration with other team members.
- Deliver ad hoc financial analyses and undertake special projects as needed.
- Liaise to manage subcontractor expenditure tracking, program Billing/ Accounts Payable accuracy.
- Conduct weekly financial reviews with program management to monitor and discuss financial metrics, variances from the Annual Operating Plan, and support the preparation of executive presentations for Program Management Reviews.
- Assist in mentoring other Financial Analysts.
ABOUT YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, pricing, forecasting, and accounting of revenues, expenses, capital, and staffing.
- Prior experience in government contracting is highly valued.
- CMA or CPA certifications are a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior financial analysis role.
- Proficiency in financial and accounting software.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences including senior business leaders.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including sophisticated spreadsheet capabilities and formula usage.
- Ability to thrive in an agile and collaborative work environment.
- Strong analytical mindset with a keen interest in probing into data ('Why?', 'What if?', 'How?').
- Familiarity with DFARs, CAS, and GAAP standards.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint/Time and Expense is advantageous.
