The ImpactDaily and monthly responsibilities - What your days and weeks will include:State Tax Compliance- Responsible for the preparation, review, and processing of the annual state income tax filings and associated compliance in coordination with our outsourcing partners.
- Primary role on state and local tax audits and notices from state related to state income tax.
- Ensure accuracy of and compliance with tax calendar and internal controls.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state tax developments.
- Provide information and support to business areas.
- Advise on non-routine transactions impacting state filings, including acquisitions and dispositions.
- Prepare, review and approve journal entries.
- Prepare, review and approve General Ledger Reconciliations.
- Assist with state legislative and regulatory initiatives.
- Guaranty Fund compliance.
- Develop a strong working relationship with internal and external clients, including vendor relationships.
The Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
- 3+ years of Corporate Income Tax and/or Accounting experience.
- 3+ years State and Local Income Tax experience.
The Ideal Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance.
- 5+ years of Corporate Income Tax and/or Accounting experience.
- 5+ years state and local income tax experience.
- Working knowledge and experience related to insurance premium tax a plus.
- Working knowledge and experience related to sales and use tax and/or property tax a plus.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong time and project management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- CPA or MST highly desirable.
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including tax compliance software (Corptax), GL systems (SAP) and research software (CCH).
