Credit Analyst (I-III)Hybrid position in Brickell.The Credit Analyst prepares credit analyses and underwrites commercial, international and consumer transactions as outlined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Spread financial statements in order to pre-screen the viability of the credit proposal.
- Examine accounting methods and scrutinize financial statements and accompanying information.
- Prepare credit presentations which include identifying and mitigating risk, identifying sources of repayment, sensitivity analysis, industry data, and project analysis.
- Pull credit reports, OFAC, and background checks to evaluate and examine credit references for consistency with information provided.
- Analyze borrower’s business methods of operations, operational environment, financial condition, and operating performance to determine borrower’s ability to pay on loans.
- Request specific information and discuss or resolve issues pertaining to borrower’s business, financial status, and credit risk.
- Confer with Credit Manager to resolve problems with applications or missing information.
- Perform credit underwriting, assess credit risk, comply with the Bank’s Credit Policy, and issue recommendations about credit proposals to be reviewed by the Credit Manager.
- Perform credit analyses for annual reviews and credit renewals as required.
- Conduct follow-up of borrowers’ financial situations with authorized credit facilities.
- Ensure financial covenants of each transaction are carried out as approved.
- Maintain continuous efforts to supervise problem credits.
- Attend to administrative functions of the credit Committee (agenda, minutes, and board letters) when needed.
- Sign and authorize credit/trade references when needed.
- Participate in special projects related to the bank’s loan portfolio, such as but not limited to legal lending limit log, Allowances for Loan Losses, etc.
- Full knowledge and understanding of bank policies, procedures, regulatory and compliance requirements, including but not limited to BSA/AML, CDD, EDD, and others as defined by the Compliance Division and Information Security Division.
- Attend and/or complete all required training as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

- Assist colleagues with projects or tasks when needed.
- Communicate effectively with other Departments.
- Perform other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A) from a qualified college or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from directors, managers, clients (both internal and external), and the general public.
- Excellent ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing; Portuguese and Spanish highly recommended, and in some departments required.
- Excellent proficiency in various computer software and banking applications.
- In-depth knowledge of all bank policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of accounting and financial analyses.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to ensure confidentiality, security, and safekeeping of bank and customer information.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Displays original thinking and creativity; self-starter; generates suggestions for improving work.
